Karakia and waiata

We always open our staff and practice meetings with karakia or whakatauki. "Whakataka te Hau" is a karakia we especially like the imagery that relates to our cluster name and our cluster purpose and vision.  Let the winds of learning come from the West and South, the land and the sea, and bring a fresh start and new learnings and insights to the cluster and our work with students, whanau and schools.

Whakataka te Hau

Whakataka te hau ki te uru
Cease the winds from the west
Whakataka te hau ki te tonga
Cease the winds from the south
Kia mākinakina ki uta
Let the breezes blow over the land
Kia mātaratara ki tai
Let the breezes blow over the ocean
E hi ake ana te atākura
Let the red lipped dawn come
He tio, he huka, he hauhunga
with a sharpened air, a touch of frost, a promise of a glorious day
Tihe Mauri Ora
